Jeep Wrangler / Gladiator / Ford Bronco Audio Upgrades

Riding around with the weak excuse for an audio system in your 4X4 got you wishing that those rubber ducks could sing?  Well, fear not, adventurers, there are solutions to the disappointing sounds that you are experiencing!  We can make it loud and clear, audiophile amazing, or a tailgate jam waiting to happen!  There can be no question that the JK series Wrangler ignited a personalization trend that has few limits.  With the JL, JT and even the Bronco joining the party, there are plenty of upgrade options available for these platforms.

The placement / mounting of speakers in all of these vehicles is less than ideal, but there are solutions to get substantially better performance.  The JK/JL/JT is best done with new replacement dash speaker enclosures.  The JL/JT soundbar in the rear seat area generally involves some modifications to bring it up to expectations, but there are some options for preloaded replacement bars if you want to maintain the ability to go back to stock.  Subwoofer upgrades can range from basic pre-made to vehicle specific pre-made to full custom one-off.  The Wranglers and Broncos can get excellent performance from a tailgate mounted enclosure if you don't have other plans for that space.  The JK 4 doors can get enclosures under the front seats, which sounds great, even topless.  When it comes to amplifiers in these beasts, weather resistant is the name of the game.  Even the most pampered mall crawlers end up getting wet in the areas most used for amplifier mounting, so best to plan accordingly.  When it comes to putting all the pieces together, all of your mounting hardware, cabling and such need to withstand the elements, just like the other components.  

Upgrading your head unit is a power move in the JK for sure.  Nobody should go without Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.  If you want to upsize your in-dash display, there are great options for more screen real estate.  There are several well integrated options that look like they were born there while taking the tech up several levels.  Adding cameras for front/rear parking view is a great idea and the hardcore wheelers can even opt for undercarriage crawling cams.
